The thrill of the outdoors, the beauty of nature, the serenity of being unplugged. The Brighton and Hove Way offers you all of these experiences, with more than nineteen miles of downland to discover.

Brighton and Hove Way

The Way
In April 2017 over 300 people from across our diverse communities joined the Mayor Pete West in pioneering a new pathway around our city: The Brighton & Hove Way. Collecting thousands of pounds in sponsorship for the Mayor’s 27 chosen charities, walkers also trod in the idea of the 27 Km trail becoming a permanent waymarked route.

Founded with the support of City Parks, the Brighton & Hove Way Association now works to establish, care for, and promote the use of the now extended route which circumnavigates Brighton & Hove.

The Brighton & Hove Way follows a circuit of existing rights of way starting from Brighton Palace Pier. Following the Undercliff to Saltdean and taking in Castle Hill National Nature Reserve, Falmer, Stanmer Park, the Chattri Memorial, old Portslade, and returning by Hove Esplanade, the path lets you discover some of best of the Brighton & Hove's downland and urban treasures, while never straying far from the city edge. Easily accessible by public transport and radial paths from the city, the Brighton & Hove Way offers a great opportunity for more people, both residents and visitors, to get out and enjoy the richness of the South Downs National Park on our doorstep.
